Volvo C30 1.6 named green car of the year

The new Volvo 1.6 DRIVe has been awarded the “Green Car of the Year” title by the website TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk, not in reference to its colour, but to its ecology. The Swedish brand’s compact outpolled tough rivals such as the BMW 316d and the legendary Toyota Prius to take first place on the list. The website’s editor , Faye Sunderland, commented at the award presentation:
The Volvo C30 1.6 DRIVe with Start/Stop technology is a fantastic addition to this year’s “green scene”. In a short space of time Volvo has drastically reduced its CO2 emissions into the atmosphere while being a newcomer to this market. Volvo can be proud of having this C30 1.6 DRIVe model as the standard-bearer of its commitment to the environment, and it is a well-deserved winner of the award.
The Volvo C30 emits only 99 g/km of CO2 and is capable of covering 850 miles (about 1,200 kilometres) on a single tank, which is quite remarkable. These credentials are enough to make it one of the most efficient cars in terms of emissions and consumption, all without sacrificing style or comfort.
On the website itself, The Green Car Website, you can find information on low-emission cars and specifically on this award. The top 5 in each segment, interviews, hybrid cars… a website entirely dedicated to ecology within the motoring world, which is carving out an ever-larger niche on the web.
