EX60 EX90 Volvo Electric Cars SUV
Volvo is enhancing its electric EX90 and EX60 SUVs in North America by adding Plug&Charge support
Volvo thereby reinforces its commitment to electrification, removing one of the main barriers that electric vehicle owners face when charging away from home.
Volvo has implemented the Plug&Charge feature in its electric EX90 SUV in the North American market, and has also announced that it will also incorporate it into the EX60 before the end of the year, when deliveries begin. The Plug&Charge technology allows authentication and payment to be carried out automatically when the vehicle is connected to a compatible fast-charging point, greatly simplifying the entire process and improving the user experience.
With the Plug&Charge feature enabled, the driver only needs to plug the charging cable into the vehicle and, within a matter of seconds, the charging session will start automatically. Verification and payment are handled in the background between the car and the charging network, so the user does not need to worry about anything, eliminating the need to use apps or RFID cards.

Volvo confirms that this feature is already available in the North American market via a software update for all EX90 owners, and it will be standard on the EX60 when it launches in this market. At present, this feature can be used at the charging points of several participating networks, such as Tesla and IONNA, and more providers are expected to join in the near future.
Easy and simple
EX90 and EX60 drivers will thus have access to more than 35,000 compatible charging points in the United States alone. To locate stations, drivers can use the vehicle’s central display or the Volvo mobile app. In addition, compatible charging points can be automatically included in route planning.
The EX90 is Volvo’s flagship in its electric model range. It is already on sale in North America, while the EX60, positioned one step below, will reach this market before the end of the year.

“The EX60 and EX90 represent Volvo’s vision for the future of mobility: vehicles that combine safety, sustainability and technology centred on people. With Plug&Charge, Volvo drivers will enjoy an even smoother ownership experience, making public charging as simple as plugging in the cable and carrying on with their day.”
