Volvo will make the first deliveries of the EX30 in the United States this same year
With this decision, Volvo demonstrates its agility in adapting to global market conditions, making it possible for its customers in the United States to access the latest technology from the brand in advance.
The long-awaited launch in the North American market of the manufacturer’s latest all-electric compact SUV is closer than ever. Volvo has just announced its intention for the first units of the EX30 to be in the hands of its American customers before the end of the current year.
This will be possible because these first units will not come from the company’s Belgian plant in Europe, but will be produced in China.

Demand for this all-electric compact SUV is so high in the United States that Volvo’s division in that country has decided to step forward and start selling the most in-demand version ahead of schedule, equipped with a dual electric motor setup and a combined output of 315 kW. This model will be available in the Plus and Ultra trim levels, with a starting price of 44,900 dollars.
It’s time to configure your EX30
All customers who already have a reservation in this market can now personalize their vehicle online, with the aim of getting behind the wheel in just a few weeks. The somewhat more affordable versions of the EX30, with a single electric motor, will also be sold in North America, but customers will have to wait until next year, as they will likely be imported from Europe.
The first EX30 units arriving in the United States will come from Volvo’s Chinese plant in Zhangjiakou, the only production plant where this model is currently built. Starting in 2025, the Volvo EX30 is also expected to begin rolling off the assembly line at the company’s Belgian plant in Ghent. From then on, this plant will meet the demand for this compact SUV from both Europe and North America, in order to avoid the tariffs currently applied in both markets to electric vehicles produced in China.

Finally, we cannot close without mentioning some of the most notable technical specifications of the dual-electric-motor Performance version of the EX30 that will initially be sold in the United States. As we have already discussed, this version offers superior performance with up to 315 kW of combined power, allowing it to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.6 seconds, which makes it the fastest Volvo vehicle to date.
On the other hand, its 64 kWh NMC battery pack allows it to travel up to 407 km on a single charge under the EPA test cycle. It also supports a maximum charging power of 153 kW, which makes it possible to increase the charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 25 minutes.
