Volvo XC90 Excellence, luxury for everyone in the Swedish SUV

Just a couple of months ago, Volvo announced that it was working on an ultra-luxurious version of its flagship model, the XC90. Today it has been unveiled, and it has been named XC90 Excellence.
This is the very best within Volvo, and it goes straight after the segment’s heavyweights, such as the Range Rover, the BMW X5 or the recently updated Mercedes-Benz GLE.
Ever since the new generation of the XC90 was launched roughly a year ago, the model has been a complete success with both critics and buyers, with thousands of advance orders. As a result, the people running the Swedish brand have set out to create the most luxurious version possible, with which to satisfy the demands of the most discerning potential customers.

On the outside, the XC90 Excellence stands apart from its siblings in the range thanks to subtle details such as some additional chrome trim that we don’t find on the “standard” models, as well as a small badge placed next to the car’s mechanical identification.
Inside, the changes are far more evident. As soon as we open the doors we realise that the XC90’s cabin has been transformed into a comfortable lounge for four passengers, instead of the traditional five or seven. In place of the central seat in the second row there is a centre console trimmed in fine materials. The rear seats now feature electric adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage.

Second-row passengers will enjoy extra legroom, reinforced sound insulation, dedicated ambient lighting, and a heating or cooling system for drinks, also including a set of crystal glasses handcrafted by Swedish specialist glassmakers. Finally, a standout feature is the multimedia entertainment system in the form of touch tablets mounted on the backs of the front seats.
