The Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R Nismo commemorated NISMO’s 20th anniversary, the official tuning division of the Japanese manufacturer and, although the Z-Tune units were built years after production of the R34 had ended, their exclusivity takes them a step beyond the official vehicles.

Only 20 units were converted from V-spec to Z-Tune specification, a job carried out in collaboration with NISMO, which acquired 13 used R34s, while the other seven were donated by their owners, who wanted to take their already brutal Japanese car one step further. To meet the requirements of both tuners, the vehicles bought and donated had to have covered fewer than 30,000 kilometres and comply with the strict exterior and mechanical conditions approved by NISMO.

But what makes the work of Z-Tune so special? A very extensive set of modifications to the R34 GT-R, including bumpers with larger openings and ventilation intakes in the wheel arches. The most interesting part, however, is under the bonnet: a forged new camshaft, reinforced pistons, an IHI turbocharger, and new exhaust and intake manifolds.

The results of this modification speak for themselves. A power output of 493 CV and 540 Nm of torque allow the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R Nismo Z-Tune to cover the quarter mile in 10.06 seconds, which, compared with today’s Nissan GT-R, represents an improvement of 0.74 seconds.

For GT-R fans, the Z-Tune modifications mark the final model of the largest generation of ‘Godzilla’. Built in 2005, this silver Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R Nismo Z-Tune is the first of the 20 units produced and has already received offers above 550,000 euros.
