We have the date: starting in July, the Tesla Model 3 will begin production

For a few months now we have known that production of the Tesla Model 3 should begin at any moment. However, several problems kept delaying the date on which this new model would enter the production phase, and it was impossible to know when this long-awaited vehicle could finally start being manufactured. It is a model that will sit below the company’s flagship, the Model S, so many people are keen to enjoy the efficiency that Tesla cars are known for without paying the high price of that top-of-the-range model.

400,000 customers have expressed interest in owning one of these cars and have made a reservation deposit of 1,000 dollars. But everyone has felt that the company might not be able to meet its commitments regarding delivery dates. With all these doubts ahead, the company has now confirmed that the Model 3 will be on the production line starting in July.

The initial output of the Tesla factory is planned at 5,000 units per week throughout this year, from the start of production in July until the end of the year, when delivery of the first units produced will begin. From 2018 onwards, the company undertakes to increase production up to 10,000 units per week.

We still do not have a clear picture of what the Model 3 will finally look like. We have seen an earlier version, which does not reflect the latest changes. We expect to see this image soon, before production is confirmed, so we will not be long in learning more about the model. On the Tesla website a configurator has already been made available so that each buyer can personalise their car and have it with everything they need.

The car will have a range of around 350 kilometres, although other ranges are being considered to complement the lineup of this electric vehicle, which aims to repeat the success of its older sibling but will face tough competition from similar models. For now, it is beginning to look possible that it will reach the market before the end of the year, and we already know that the early bird gets the worm. We will see what happens.
