What are the SER high-turnover parking spaces being set up in Madrid?
Madrid is launching new SER high-turnover parking spaces that are limited to a maximum of 45 minutes. Do you want to know how they work?

The Madrid City Council continues to take steps towards fully implementing the Madrid 360 plan. It has just introduced a new type of blue-and-white signage aimed at marking the SER high-turnover parking spaces. They are blue and white, and this is what they mean. This move is part of the Madrid 360 Environmental Sustainability Strategy approved by the City Council, which includes the creation of the new Low Emission Zones of Special Protection (ZBEEP) and the dynamic SER tariffs.
Dynamic tariffs set the prices to be paid in regulated parking zones according to the pollution levels recorded in the city, rather than the CO2 emissions homologated for each model. Electric cars can park for free and without a time limit in these zones. This new tariff system came into force on 26 January, but now it is the turn of the high-turnover spaces.

What are SER high-turnover parking spaces?
SER high-turnover parking spaces are marked with blue-and-white lines and have special regulations. Their main difference is that in high-turnover spaces the maximum parking time is 45 minutes. The tariff for this new type of parking space in Madrid is set at €0.20 for every five minutes, €0.70 for 20 minutes, and so on up to a maximum of €2.05 for 45 minutes. The first five minutes are a fixed charge; after that, time can be split. Intervals between two tariffs will be settled in “multiples of €0.05”.
The Madrid City Council has stated that “all SER high-turnover spaces will be located on streets or stretches with high parking demand due to their proximity to public administration offices, official buildings, health, educational, cultural, social and sports facilities, or commercial areas”. The purpose of these new SER high-turnover spaces is to “encourage vehicle turnover and reduce cruising traffic”, that is, the traffic generated by the search for a parking space.

The first SER high-turnover spaces in Madrid City Council have been installed in the Chamberí district, specifically in the Arapiles neighbourhood and on Calle Bravo Murillo. Between numbers 41 and 45, around ten spaces of this new type have been set up. In total, 1,130 high-turnover spaces will be created in Madrid. Over the next fifteen days, around 491 blue-and-white reservations will be set up across 26 neighbourhoods in 7 districts. Chamberí will receive 132 spaces, Tetuán 91, Arganzuela 85, Retiro 71, Salamanca 50, Chamartín 47 and Fuencarral-El Pardo 15 spaces. However, you can consult all of them in this document.
