Will Lamborghini develop a successor to the iconic Miura?
Lamborghini’s CEO, Stefano Domenicali, has confirmed that a reinterpretation of the Miura is a real possibility, although it will not arrive before 2022.

Possibly the most famous classic sports car of the Italian brand, Lamborghini Miura could come back to life, according to Lamborghini’s CEO, Stefano Domenicali.
The head of the Italian brand told Automotive News in an interview that a modern interpretation of the Lamborghini Miura is a possibility they do not rule out. However, should the project go ahead, the 21st-century Miura would reach the market after 2022.

In addition to the possible reinterpretation of the Lamborghini Miura, Domenicali revealed that they are studying the possible development of a four-seat sports model. This hypothetical vehicle would reach the market “between 2025 and 2030”.
We will have to wait and see which of the two models mentioned above – a reinterpretation of the Miura or a four-seat sports car – receives the green light first. It is worth recalling that in 2008 the Italian firm already flirted with the idea of producing a four-seat sports car, the Estoque; a prototype that never ultimately led to a production model, since the brand preferred to develop an SUV to boost its commercial performance in the market: the Lamborghini Urus.

During the Automotive News interview, the CEO of Lamborghini also took the time to talk about its upcoming launch, the Lamborghini Urus. Domenicali said the luxury SUV will be available in mid-next year for less than 200,000 euros.
According to the Lamborghini executive, the crossover will play a key role in the brand’s goal of increasing its sales, a target Domenicali has set at 7,000 units a year by 2019; which would represent a considerable increase over the 3,457 units sold last year.
