Renault Megane RS 2018: all four wheels will steer and it will get two chassis configurations
The Renault Megane RS will receive two driving modes – Sport and Cup – and the 4Control system featured on the current Megane GT.
The arrival of the new Renault Megane RS is just around the corner. The French sports compact will be officially unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next September, and the brand has announced that it will feature two different chassis configurations and a four-wheel steering system.
“Sport” mode for road use and “Cup” mode to get the most out of it on the track

The new Megane RS promises to be one of the Renault most efficient and sporting cars ever produced by the French brand. Its two new chassis configurations – Sport and Cup – will contribute greatly to this. As you may have already imagined, the Sport driving mode is geared towards dynamic road driving, while the Cup configuration is focused on track use. Although Renault has not yet revealed what settings the car will receive with these configurations, it would not be surprising if the exhaust system, steering, engine map, 4Control system (four-wheel steering system), suspension or driver assistance systems undergo certain changes when selecting one driving mode or the other.
4Control system: more agility on tight bends and greater stability on fast bends

The 4Control system will be one of the major new features of the new Megane RS; in fact, the French sports compact will become the first in its class to receive a system of this kind. This device has been developed by the French brand’s sports division, Renault Sport, although its first version was designed by an external specialist. As we have already seen in the Renault Megane GT, the main advantages of the 4Control system are excellent longitudinal stability on fast bends and incredible agility on slow bends.
Same engine as the Alpine A110?
We still don’t know 100% what the mechanics of the new Megane RS will be. We know that the sports compact will receive a manual gearbox as standard and that an automatic dual-clutch option will also be available. However, we do not know which engine the new Megane RS will use. Some rumours suggest that the sports compact could feature the same power unit used in the Alpine A110, a 1.8 TCe engine that in the Megane RS could develop around 300 CV of power. Another possibility that should not be ruled out is the use of a modified version of the 2.0 TCe engine featured in the current Megane RS.
