Year 2010. Low cost everywhere. Every brand has one or wants one. And the forerunner of all this, the Dacia Logan, enjoys the highest pedestal while looking down on the competition. But this is no time to sit back and do nothing. Other brands are threatening the Logan’s position by adding more models to the low-cost segment.

The next-generation Logan will be unveiled in 2012, although some details are apparently still undecided on the part of Renault. One of these “details” under discussion is whether the Logan will be a bit larger than it is now, possibly based on the Renault Fluence, or even offered as a coupé variant.

A model based on the Fluence would be a kind of entry-level Fluence, and it would be positioned that way in certain key markets such as France. But the price would not be as economical as the Logan’s is today: with a larger body and a bit more equipment, we would say goodbye to the low-priced Logan and move into mid-range pricing.
