Worthersee: Volkswagen shines with the Polo R WRC and the road-going WRC Street version

At the Worthersee, Volkswagen has presented the Polo that will compete in the WRC next year, along with its road-going variant, called WRC-Street.

With a showcase of customisation and products from Volkswagen taking up most of the Worthersee, the German brand always drops a bombshell at this event; this year the honours went to the Volkswagen Polo, with two models, no less than the WRC version that will compete next year in the World Rally Championship, alongside its road-going version.

With the Polo R WRC, Volkswagen Motorsport presents the prototype that will compete in the FIA World Rally Championship in 2013. It is the most powerful Polo ever, with its 1.6-litre TSI engine producing approximately 300 CV, which allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

From competition to the road is the motto of the Polo WRC Street, the road version of the Polo R-WRC. This unique model stands out for its rear spoiler, diffuser, chassis with a certain sporting preparation and its R-WRC logo decal. A 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 220 CV powers the whole package and delivers quite respectable performance for those who want to feel like their rally heroes.

While its big brother heads to the WRC competitions next year, the WRC Street will go on sale at the end of next year.
