G-Power BMW M5 Hurricane RRs, 830cv for the last of the line

For many, the BMW M5 E60 was the end of an era: high-displacement naturally aspirated engines bid their final farewell, becoming for many the best sports saloon of all time, while for others it was nothing more than a saloon whose 507cv of naturally aspirated power fell short. For the latter, G-Power has brought into the world the M5 Hurricane RRs, the definitive upgrade for bragging about being the fastest saloon on the planet.

It will be built to commemorate this German tuner’s one hundredth unit, taking one more turn of the screw on the latest modification presented for this model a few months ago.

The main changes are under the bonnet, although the blue “Smurf” paint finish and the use of 20-inch wheels also deserve mention. The 5.0-litre V10 engine has been supercharged by two turbochargers, one for each cylinder bank, reaching an impressive 830cv of power available between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm, 30 more than before. Its maximum torque rises to 800Nm.

To withstand the enormous surge in power, the Germans have turned to Mahle pistons, a larger cooling system, an improved intake and, finally, less restrictive exhausts.

The sole objective of all this is to be the fastest saloon on the planet, and although you may be imagining very high performance figures, what follows left me speechless. The top speed exceeds 372 km/h, approaching the limit of the McLaren F1. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes 4.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h takes 9.1 seconds and 0-300 km/h takes 25.2 seconds, so if we floor the accelerator for half a minute we will brush the limits of physics.

The worst thing about the car? Its price. The complete kit for the upgrade costs around €57,000, to which must be added the price of the standard M5.
