Xiaomi will launch an SUV and it will cost less than 15,000 euros

Xiaomi’s SUV will be rebadged by Redmi and based on the Bestune T77. Although the final price is unknown, sources claim it will cost less than 15,000 euros

Xiaomi will launch its own car. The Asian tech manufacturer has just closed a deal to market a Redmi-rebadged SUV. It is a mid-size SUV, specifically the Bestune T77. This model was unveiled at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, but the production version was not revealed until November of that same year. From that moment on, it went on sale in China.

The Xiaomi brand itself has confirmed, via Weibo, the development of the model. The new Xiaomi SUV will arrive to expand the product family the tech giant currently offers.

Everything points to the Bestune T77 being modified to adapt it to the technology and Xiaomi’s requirements. In this way, the tech company intends to “distance” itself from possible rivals already existing in the European market. The Bestune T77 has lines that may recall models such as the DS7 Crossback, the Kia Sportage or the Land Rover Discovery.

Xiaomi’s new SUV could become one of the most affordable models in its segment, and its price could start at 12,000 euros. In addition, the Redmi Bestune T77 could be available in six trim levels, but for now the details are unknown. Some sources suggest that after Xiaomi’s preparation, the price of the Redmi SUV would not reach 15,000 euros.

What is Xiaomi’s future SUV like?

When the Bestune T77 was presented at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show, it was equipped with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder inline turbo engine with 142 CV and 204 Nm of torque. The transmission is a six-speed manual. If the dimensions do not change after passing through Xiaomi’s hands, the tech manufacturer’s future SUV would have a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and a weight of 1,455 kilograms. It would measure 4.5 metres in length, while its width would reach 1.8 metres.

Technology will be fundamental in Xiaomi’s first model, as it will feature the MIUI operating system, famous for having been developed by the brand. Through this system, the vehicle will manage connectivity and infotainment systems.

The Bestune T77 would have a holographic assistant

It is important to highlight that the Redmi future SUV will include a holographic virtual assistant. This is nothing new, since when the model debuted it already featured this virtual assistant. One of the main goals of this system is to prevent drivers from feeling alone at the wheel.

The manufacturer confirmed that the character can be customised and could come in up to five different forms. The Redmi’s holographic virtual assistant will respond to 43 different commands.
