YangWang U9, the electric supercar that can run on three wheels

This electric supercar has surprised with the incorporation of an innovative suspension system capable of adjusting each of the wheels.

Yangwang U9 Prototipo

There are brands that, just a few months ago, were completely unknown, but which have now become a little better known. Their commitment to electric mobility is quite significant, and that is why they are beginning to matter in the automotive market. In the case of YangWang, we know that it is part of the BYD conglomerate, a subsidiary dedicated to luxury electric cars. We have already seen the YangWang U8, but now the YangWang U9 has just been presented.

This car impresses with its capabilities, but what has generated interest is not the car itself, but the suspension it has been equipped with. A suspension that may remind you of the one used by the legendary Citroën “Tiburón“Yangwang U9, a car with which the French brand surprised its users.

With this suspension, the Citroën model could run on three wheels, since the suspension took care of adjusting the other wheels so that the car would not suffer from the absence of one of them. The suspension presented by YangWang is called Disus-X. It is in turn divided into three different systems: Disus-C, Disus-A and Disus-P.

Disus-C is the intelligent damping body control system. Disus-A is the intelligent air body control system, and Disus-P is the name given to the intelligent hydraulic body control system. Through the combined action of the three systems, the suspension of the YangWang U9 delivers good dynamic behavior while driving.

The car is fitted with several accelerometers that independently analyze the behavior of each wheel. In this way, the suspension system adjusts the inclination of the body to compensate for any variable. As a result, the wheels remain well planted on the asphalt and have perfect grip.

As for the powertrain, the YangWang U9 will adopt the same electric drive system as the U8. This means it will have four motors, each with an output of 240 kW. The combined maximum power reaches 1,300 CV. This will allow it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in two seconds.

The launch date and price remain a secret for now, although the latter is expected to reach a figure close to §h21§140,000 euros§h22§.
