Maybach officially closes its doors

The Maybach models in the US are already listed as discontinued, so the last examples of the controversial and luxurious brand will be sold at discounted prices in the coming months.

Maybach didn’t have much life left, after a series of measures that foreshadowed the worst for the German brand. Months ago, Mercedes began an aggressive promotional campaign, with heavy discounts on the last remaining units. The closure of Maybach has finally happened, along with the announcement that a few examples remained from the last batch of vehicles, built in June.

Mercedes-Benz will continue to provide technical service for the last models, even though they have officially been moved to the “discontinued” list, which is the status the American Maybachs hold in the latest official price lists.

The Mercedes-Benz Pullman S-Class will fill the gap left by Maybach, a model that is a saloon quite similar in style to the main characteristic of the extinct luxury brand.

The star brand has never officially revealed the amounts of money it has lost since the revival of Maybach, but it is estimated that the losses reached 300,000 euros per unit; Maybach managed to sell about 3,000 cars, so it would have lost almost one million euros in the showroom alone.
