The 10 most popular models of 2020

So far this year we can already make a comparison of the most popular cars of 2020 and see which have been registered the most, based on the data available

Renault Clio Captur Hibrido 7

It may be too early to start making lists of the most popular cars, but it is a good time to see how the car market has evolved in these first two months of the year. We have put together a ranking of the 10 most popular cars in 2020, thanks to the data provided by FACONAUTO, which show the registrations of models this year.

From 10th to 6th

In tenth place on this list we find the Renault Clio, while ninth place goes to the Peugeot 3008. In eighth place we find a car of Japanese origin, the Toyota Corolla, while the Spanish SEAT Arona takes seventh place, leaving the Peugeot 208 in sixth place, which closes this first part of the ranking of the most registered cars in 2020.

From 5th to 3rd

This second stretch opens with the Opel Corsa in fifth place. Following this model in popularity we find the Dacia Sandero, which throughout 2019 was the sales and registrations leader. This year it does not seem to have all the buyers’ attention, although it holds an interesting fourth place.

In third place we find another model from the Spanish brand, the SEAT Ateca. This model has a CUPRA version, fully independent and with higher performance. Despite this, the regular SEAT variant has good acceptance, which allows it to be one of the most chosen at the beginning of 2020.

Nuevo Seat Leon7

The top two places of 2020

The commercial strength of SUVs is evident in this list, where they alternate their presence with compacts, which have a tradition and an evolution that keep them among buyers’ favourites. In fact, in the top two places we find an SUV and a compact.

The second best-selling model in registrations in 2020 is the Nissan Qashqai. With 4,685 registrations up to March, it becomes the best-selling SUV, an honour it has enjoyed for some time. The first place, with 4,695 units registered, goes to the SEAT León.

The León now offers several CNG versions, which provide good range with this fuel and allow it to offer a fairly large ECO range. And at a price that makes it more attractive than its rivals, which is something to take into account.
