2018 Austrian motorcycle GP: race summary with wins for Bezzecchi, Bagnaia and Jorge Lorenzo

We sum up how the race Sunday went at the 2018 Austrian GP, with victories for Marco Bezzecchi, Pecco Bagnaia and Jorge Lorenzo at the Red Bull Ring.

Bezzecchi y Martín en el podio del GP de Austria 2018

The 2018 Austrian motorcycle Grand Prix began with the Moto3 race, won by category leader Marco Bezzecchi. The Italian rider started from pole position and managed to finish the race in first place ahead of his compatriot Enea Bastianini, but the big protagonist of the race was Jorge Martín, who, still in pain from his recent surgery, managed to keep up with the best and secure a commendable third place.

Despite everything, Bezzecchi leaves the Red Bull Ring with a slightly bigger lead, with the 9 points he has gained over Jorge Martín. Thus, with eight Grands Prix still to go, the Italian has 159 points and the Spaniard has 146 points. Since Canet, tenth, and Di Giannantonio, eleventh, fell somewhat behind, they drop off a little.

Bagnaia recupera el liderato de Moto2 en el GP de Austria

In Moto2, the Italian anthem also rang out thanks to Francesco Bagnaia, who, like his countryman Bezzecchi, made the most of starting from the front of the grid. Although the Portuguese Oliveira stole the lead after the first corner and managed to pull away, the Italian managed to snatch the glory from him at one of the final corners of the last lap. The podium was completed by the other protégé of Vale Rossi, Luca Marini, who already has three consecutive podiums.

With his fifth victory of the season, Pecco Bagnaia regains the lead of the Moto2 World Championship, now ahead by 3 points over Miguel Oliveira, 189 to 186. Álex Márquez, who crashed while battling with Marini for a podium place, remains third in the championship with 113 points, with Jorge Navarro, fifth, being the best of our riders in Moto2 at Spielberg.

En Austria llegó la tercera victoria de Jorge Lorenzo en 2018

In MotoGP the Italian anthem did not play because Andrea Dovizioso, third at the end, could not match Marc Márquez and Jorge Lorenzo, the best at the Red Bull Ring. The duel between the two riders was tremendous; let us remember that next year they will share a garage at the Repsol team Honda. The duel was ultimately won by Lorenzo after an intense last three laps, a gift for the fans. It is the third victory for the Balearic rider this season.

Despite not winning, Márquez still leaves Austria even further ahead and with the feeling that this world championship is going to be his. The Spanish rider now has 201 points, 59 more than the runner-up in the overall standings, Valentino Rossi, who saved a little face and finished in sixth place.
