Brabus G500, the most radical vision of Mercedes-Benz's off-roader

The Mercedes-Benz G500 has passed through the hands of Brabus specialists, who have made this spectacular model even more impressive

It has only just hit the market, yet it has already become a vehicle everyone wants to turn into something more powerful and attractive. We are talking about the Mercedes Benz G500 and, after seeing the Mercedes AMG G63 turned into a spectacular armoured, bulletproof vehicle, it has been “touched” by the professionals at Brabus, who have had fun making it look closer to the original model, but with upgrades that elevate this already impressive car to a higher category.

If a Mercedes G500 is already spectacular, it is even more so when we consider that Brabus has added a carbon-fibre bonnet, which adds more air intakes to cool the engine. In addition, the front bumper has been improved, with LED daytime running lights added, and the wheel arches have been widened, which makes it look more dynamic and appealing for anyone who wants to start driving through more demanding mountain trails.

A sun visor with two LED lights has been fitted to the top of the windscreen, offering the driver greater visibility when needed. The new alloy wheels measure 23 inches and have been fitted for the occasion with 305/35 R23 tyres, so the driver can go anywhere they wish. Inside, Brabus offers several options, to the owner’s taste, to keep the look they prefer: leather, Alcantara, fabric… The important thing is that the owner feels comfortable sitting behind the wheel of their Mercedes G500.

The model features a 4.0-litre V8 engine that produces 422 CV of power and a maximum torque of 610 Nm. This unit can take the model’s 2,429 kilograms from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and push it up to 210 km/h. But Brabus was not satisfied with that output, so it has installed an engine management software update called Brabus B40-500 PowerXtra. With this software, power rises to 500 CV and maximum torque to 710 Nm.

With the engine upgrades, the Brabus G500 can reach a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 5.7 seconds, a 0.2-second improvement. The top speed, however, remains at the nominal 210 km/h. Finally, the exhaust was designed by Brabus and consists of two outlets on each side of the car, which accentuates the engine sound. To avoid startling pedestrians along the way, that sound is controlled by electronic sound regulators.
