4 keys to the new Bentley Continental GT and its exclusive manufacturing process
The new Bentley Continental GT reveals some of the keys to its manufacturing, such as its inspiration from a luxury light aircraft or the 100 hours of work required

The Bentley Continental GT 2018 is unique of its kind. Its exclusive manufacturing process makes it a highly coveted vehicle for those who appreciate even the smallest detail. Fortunately, the British brand has revealed some of the keys surrounding the creation process of this luxury grand tourer.
Inspired by a luxury light aircraft from the early 20th century
The shapes and curves of the Bentley Continental GT 2018 take as reference the design lines of the Spartan Executive, a luxury light aircraft built in the 1930s of which only 34 examples were produced. Like the British grand tourer, the aircraft was aimed at a very exclusive audience in its time.

Superforming technology: creating defined and unique shapes
During the manufacturing process of the Bentley Continental GT 2018, a modelling technique called Superforming has been used. This technology allows the creation of much more defined and complex shapes thanks to the manipulation of aluminium at 500º C.

100 hours of work and 1,000 craftsmen
The British brand’s research and design centre brings together more than 1,000 craftsmen. These workers are in charge of designing the interior of the new Bentley Continental GT, for which they spend 100 hours of work creating a single interior. To put things in perspective, the manufacturing of the exclusive diamond in diamond finish of the English grand tourer took 18 months.

Renewal of the 6-litre W12 engine
Setting design aside, the new Bentley Continental GT also introduces changes in terms of mechanics. The 6-litre twin-turbo W12 engine already featured in the previous generation has been improved to deliver 635 CV of power and 900 Nm of torque, which means 45 CV more and 180 Nm more torque than its predecessor.
The third generation of the Continental GT will be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is also expected to include a hybrid option later on, as well as some progress in terms of autonomous driving.
