Chevrolet Volt Electric Cars Curiosities
4,000 Chevrolet Volt vehicles affected by a software bug
A fault has been detected in the ECU system of the 2013 Volt that can cause the main engine to shut down, leaving its passengers stranded. Chevrolet has already found a solution to the problem.

Chevrolet has detected a software bug in the 2013 Volt’s control unit that could lead to the main electric motor shutting down while the car is in motion, preventing its owners from continuing their journeys.
The first case occurred just a few days ago, and its driver explained on a model forum that for no apparent reason, the electric motor stopped working while the car was still moving. The owner also confirmed that neither the steering nor the brakes failed, and had to wait more than five minutes to restart the vehicle and continue driving.

The fault only affects the 2013 models that went on sale months ago. The parent company, General Motors, has confirmed the story described in the previous paragraph and also stated that it is not the only affected case. For now, all of its buyers have already been informed.
The first possible cause of the problem is attributed to the misuse of the batteries caused when owners schedule the time at which they want to charge them. Honestly, I don’t see much connection between one thing and the other.
The solution involves taking the Volt to an official dealership to reset the control unit again and thus immediately stop this fault.
