6 incredible editions of the Nissan GTR
The Nissan GTR is the most iconic sports car from the Japanese brand par excellence. Its history in tuning culture and its incredible performance-for-price ratio make it unique.
The editions that have appeared for this iconic car have been varied over time. Many of its highly popular models have had their own versions. Today we present the 6 we like most as a top rundown.

R-32 Skyline GTR Nismo

The R32 was a legendary model of the brand, an icon of tuning culture and a car that even today remains a genuine gem. The Nismo variant was a homologated limited edition that first appeared for the first time in 1990. This version of the R-32 had extra air intakes and better aerodynamics. It also featured a small spoiler to help with downforce and aerodynamics, as well as front-end changes to improve the flow of cool air to the engine. The GTR-32 Nismo becomes more special and rare as time passes.
R-35 GT-R50

We recently published an article about this edition, which was recently unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This edition was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the GT-R. It is precisely because of this number, and the exclusivity of this model, that only 50 of them will be built. Not much is yet known about its specifications, but everything points to it having competition parts covering almost the entire chassis, a unique design and a 1,000 CV engine or more. If you want to learn more about it, visit our article.
R-33 Skyline GTR Nismo 400R

It’s hard to make anything “cooler” than this. In 1996 Nissan decided to build a special edition based on its Le Mans GT-R. The choice was the R33 Nismo 400R. It produced 400 CV from its 2.8-litre RBX-GT2 engine. It was also a manual and featured a motorsport-spec Getrag gearbox and all-wheel drive. Only 44 were sold, and only in Japan.
R-33 Skyline GT-R 40th Anniversary Autech

Yes, you’re not seeing things: this edition of the GT-R had 4 doors, something Nissan did not like at all but which Autech took on the task of building in 1998. It was designed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Skylines, not just the GT-R. Autech kept the same engine from the R33 GT-R and fitted it into this longer body. It retained four-wheel drive and was capable of performing just like a genuine GT-R, and it also had more space, perfect for families. What more could you ask for?
R-35 GT-R 45th Anniversary

To mark the GT-R’s 45th anniversary, this version took the most hardcore characteristics of the R35 and softened them in an attempt to create a car more suited to everyday life. It featured a softer suspension, making it less aggressive on city journeys, although the rest of the car was practically identical. Perhaps it had a more premium finish inside and a plaque bearing the production number of this special edition. Only 100 were made, of which 5 went to England.
R-34 Skyline GT-R NIsmo Z-Tune

And we save the best for last. The R-34 is not only my favourite version of this family of sports cars, but, in my view, it is the perfect car in terms of performance and design. This version was based on the GT-500-class R34 racer, improving its engine and adapting it to 2.8 litres and 500 CV. It was full of carbon fibre parts to improve the overall weight of the model. The sound it produced and its gear changes still surprise even today.
