850 horsepower for a Mercedes GLE. This is Brabus's preparation

If you regularly read, watch or listen to motoring programmes, you surely know the company Brabus, or at least it sounds familiar. In case you don’t remember, let me help by telling you that it is a tuner, a specialist in Mercedes-Benz and Smart, capable of completely changing the concept of a vehicle.

In this case they have used as a base a Mercedes AMG GLE 63, which has 557 horsepower in its standard version and 585 in the sportier variant, the GLE 63 S. The latter, in the model sold by Mercedes from stock, costs over 140,000 euros and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. Contributing to these figures is the enormous torque of 760 Nm produced by the V8, available across virtually the entire rev range. Performance that is more than sufficient for 99.9% of humans.

After passing through Brabus’s hands, we find two different preparations. One with 700 horsepower and 960 Nm, and another with 850 horsepower and 1,450 Nm of peak torque. In the less powerful one, so to speak, it reaches 300 km/h. With the most extreme preparation, the 850 horsepower one, the Mercedes GLE 63 AMG is capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed limited to 320 km/h. Supercar-level figures disguised in an SUV weighing 2.4 tonnes.

Aesthetically there are not many changes in the preparation carried out by Brabus. The standard model, which blends a sporty yet elegant look that makes the GLE 63 look like more than just another GLE, is offered with 19, 20 and 21-inch wheels, while after the tuner’s modifications it has 23-inch wheels with a nine-double-spoke design.

It also receives a greater dose of black elements, enhancing the aggressiveness of the ensemble, and some carbon fibre trim pieces. As can be seen in the images, Brabus has focused not on the cosmetic changes, but on raising the performance figures of the SUV from the star brand even further.
