Dacia Spring Electric Electric Cars Urban
A new generation of the Dacia Spring will reach the market this very year
With the launch of a new generation of the Spring, Dacia aims to boost the competitiveness of this urban electric car in the face of new rivals entering the market, so that it can continue to lead in sales
The Dacia Spring, one of the most sought-after electric models on the European market in recent years, is about to undergo a major overhaul. This has been confirmed by the Renault Group during the presentation of its financial results for last year. The company has stated that the brand’s Romanian-built urban electric car will be completely redesigned, both inside and out, to give it a much more modern and up-to-date look.
We won’t have to wait long to see this redesign, as Dacia plans to start accepting reservations next March, so that first deliveries can take place this very summer.

The changes and improvements to the next-generation Dacia Spring, however, appear to go well beyond a simple change in appearance. Although this is not yet confirmed and remains only a rumour, a recent report published in German media indicates that the low-cost urban electric car from Dacia will also undergo a major technological overhaul.
Much more than a simple restyling
This report suggests that the new Spring will debut a new platform, developed this time exclusively for fully electric models. It would therefore not be surprising if it is the same one that will be used by the new Renault 5 electric, which the Renault Group will present alongside the new Dacia Spring at the Geneva Motor Show, to be held at the end of this coming February.
Dacia sold 61,803 units of the Spring in 2023, an increase of 26.4 percent over the previous year. According to the Renault Group, this electric city car has managed to become the third best-selling model with this type of powertrain in Europe. Currently, in Germany, Dacia is offering discounts of up to 10,000 euros to boost its sales and clear stock of the current model, which means it is possible to get one from 12,750 euros.

The Romanian manufacturer claims that, in Germany alone, it has already sold more than 30,000 units of the Spring since its market launch at the end of 2021. In this central European country, Dacia sold 14,369 units in 2022 alone, largely thanks to the generous government subsidies, which could reach almost 10,000 euros. In 2023, Dacia sold 12,406 units of this electric city car.
The current-generation Dacia Spring is equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack. This is enough to cover 230 km on the WLTP homologation cycle, a distance that can exceed 300 km if used exclusively in urban driving.

Finally, it should be noted that its success on the market is based not solely and exclusively on its low selling price, but also on its low maintenance cost, with workshop servicing needed only every 30,000 kilometres. Dacia also offers an eight-year or 120,000 km warranty on the battery.
