ABT Sportsline adds even more punch to the CUPRA Formentor VZ5
The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is a true beast, and its power is now boosted even further thanks to the work carried out by ABT Sportsline

It didn’t take CUPRA long to become a successful brand. Although the foundation is still SEAT, as a brand they have managed to give all their models a more personal and passionate character, along with others of their own design such as the Formentor. The latter is without doubt the crown jewel of CUPRA, at least for now, with the VZ5 version being the spearhead of this sporty SUV.
Last year CUPRA presented the Formentor VZ5 version, an exclusive model since the brand announced that production would be limited to just 7,000 units worldwide, thus seeking to make its sportiness available to only a few. Not surprisingly, and as part of the VAG Group, CUPRA drew on one of the group’s best engines, the well-proven 2.5 TSI five-cylinder.

In this way CUPRA housed the 2.5 TSI inline five-cylinder engine under the bonnet of the Formentor VZ5, which as standard produces 390 CV together with 480 Nm of torque, transmitted to all four wheels through the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and the 4Drive permanent all-wheel-drive system. Thanks to this configuration, the Formentor VZ5 accelerates to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, while its top speed is 250 km/h.
The figures show that this is a true sports car, but perhaps some of these 7,000 Formentor VZ5 owners are not satisfied with that and want their vehicle to be even more powerful and exclusive, and coming to their rescue is ABT Sportsline. As you know, the German tuner specialises in lending its “magic” to models from the VAG Group, among which CUPRA could not be missing, and least of all such an exclusive model as the Formentor VZ5.

To make it even more exclusive among the exclusive, the specialists at ABT Sportsline have fitted the Formentor VZ5 with the ABT Power S control unit, so the 2.5 TSI it carries increases its power considerably to 450 CV, while torque now rises to 530 Nm. With these changes and the tests carried out by ABT Sportsline, the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 now accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 270 km/h.
In terms of styling, ABT Sportsline has chosen not to alter many components, leaving all the focus to what lies under the bonnet. The only visible changes are that the exhaust tailpipes now feature the letters “ABT”, and there is the option to replace the standard wheels with Sport GR 20-inch wheels in matt black or gloss black finish; alternatively, Sport HR wheels in 21-inch size with gloss black painted spokes are also offered.
