Acceleration Boost, the option that Tesla offers to improve the performance of the Model 3
Acceleration Boost is an update aimed at Model 3 owners that will allow them to improve the performance of their vehicle
The Tesla models have many strengths, one of which is the ability to update their system through what the brand itself calls Over The Air (OTA) updates, so that the company can improve various specific aspects of models that have already been sold. A few months ago, Elon Musk himself previewed one of these updates, called Acceleration Boost, which promised interesting improvements.
As you may have guessed from the name Tesla gave this update, Acceleration Boost is designed to improve the performance of the electric drive system and, more specifically, of the Model 3 in most of its variants. The Model 3 Standard Range Plus (considered the entry-level version of this model) is excluded from this update, so only owners of the Long Range Dual Motor and Performance versions will benefit from it.

According to the Electrek portal, several Model 3 owners have already started receiving notifications to install this update through the company’s website or mobile app, although for now only in the United States and for a payment of $2,000. For the moment, Model 3 owners in Europe have not been notified to install Acceleration Boost, and it is still unknown when they will be able to do so on the old continent.
Once these owners have installed Acceleration Boost on their Model 3s, they will see their 0-60 mph acceleration, or 0-96 km/h to make it easier to understand, improved. In the Long Range Dual Motor version of the Model 3, this acceleration takes 4.4 seconds, but with the update installed, this acceleration drops to 3.9 seconds. For the high-performance Model 3 Performance version, its acceleration after the update is currently unknown, although by default it does the sprint in 3.2 seconds.

Of course, installing the Acceleration Boost update on the Model 3 is not mandatory. Each owner will have to weigh whether it is really worth paying 2,000 euros to improve their car’s acceleration by 0.5 seconds, although we should keep in mind that it still costs less than the extra $8,000 that the Performance version of the Model 3 adds on top.
