The 20th anniversary concept of the Honda S2000 will be on show in Tokyo
The upcoming Tokyo Motor Show will host two of the most anticipated debuts on the Honda stand: the Honda S2000 20th Anniversary and the Honda Civic Type R.
Honda Access, the accessories division of the car manufacturer, has announced the lineup for the Tokyo Motor Show 2020, which takes place from 10 to 12 January, and it is safe to say that purists have reason to celebrate.
This is because the stand will include two vehicles that hold a special place in the hearts of Honda enthusiasts around the world: the Honda S2000 roadster and the first-generation Honda Civic Type R (GF-EK9).
Celebrating two decades since the launch of the legendary roadster in 1999, the Honda S2000 20th Anniversary Prototype features custom parts that reflect customer feedback. These include a new front bumper with a larger, more menacing grille, smoked headlights, as well as a black windscreen frame, mirrors and alloy wheels.

The Honda Civic and S2000, two gems set to revive in Tokyo
From the only photo published by Honda, we can also see a pair of red bucket seats. The car manufacturer also says the Honda S2000 20th Anniversary Prototype features a revised suspension and a new cover for the audio system. Honda does not mention whether performance upgrades are also on the menu. Although more information and photos will be sent in January, the parts will probably be available to Honda S2000 customers given that Honda prototypes almost always make it to production.
The second main exhibit is the Honda Civic Cyber Night Japan Cruiser 2020, based on the first-generation Honda Civic Type R (GF-EK9). The custom project represents a modern reinterpretation of the original according to what young people like in a car today. While the Civic Type R retains its familiar hatchback silhouette, it gains a more robust body kit with an aggressive front bumper, modernised headlights with “eyelids”, large aerodynamic-style wheels and a considerable roof spoiler at the rear.

In addition to the Honda S2000 and the Honda Civic, the Honda stand at the Tokyo Motor Show will also include a concept based on the Step WGN minivan called Kachatto-Wagon. Labelled a “multipurpose slope vehicle”, the MPV combines a flexible interior design with a flat floor that allows it to carry a bicycle, a wheelchair or other similar items. Finally, the Aibou is Honda’s first car for children and features “new and exciting movements” despite looking like a bathtub on wheels covered by a transparent plastic bubble.<
