Airstream Rangeline, the American motorhome for enjoying nature

Americans know how to create real marvels, or at least vehicles that are bigger than similar ones you can find in other countries. When it comes to motorhomes, we always see that they prefer large, powerful and very attractive models. The Airstream Rangeline arrives to do precisely that: to show a camperised vehicle capable of satisfying the most demanding outdoor enthusiast.

It is based on the RAM ProMaster 3500 and aims to be a practical vehicle that turns every journey into a unique experience. It has front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 diesel engine. This delivers 280 CV and a maximum torque of 352 Nm and is paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends the torque to the front axle.

Large, efficient and comfortable

The vehicle measures 6.40 metres and its appearance is understated. That said, it offers the image of a powerful and robust vehicle, as a motorhome should, one that has to provide protection and support to its occupants. Several elements of the bodywork are covered with a removable panel, although the electrical and drainage connections are ready to be used without any problems.

Other features visible on the exterior are a folding awning to shelter from the sun and steps to access the interior. As many users of these camperised vehicles are used to travelling with their pet, there is a hook for the dog’s lead, so it seems they have thought of everything.

To power the interior electronics and charge mobile devices, it also has 200 W solar panels and a towing hitch for pulling a trailer of up to 1,500 kg.

Elegant and comfortable interior

Inside we find a well-equipped vehicle. The front seats are captain-style and can swivel. At the rear there are two passenger seats, separated from the front ones by a central table that serves as a support. This table is extendable and can accommodate all four occupants without any problems.

The kitchen is at the rear, with a 90.6-litre fridge, an 11.3-litre freezer, a microwave and a hob for cooking. As a curious detail, it is worth mentioning the chalkboard surface on the fridge door, for leaving messages and notes. There are also several storage spaces so that nothing is missing during the adventure. Another detail is the removable Bluetooth speaker in the area, to enjoy music while cooking.

The bathroom includes a toilet and shower, to keep clean and fresh. The fresh water tank has a capacity of 109 litres, so there is a supply for several uses. The folding bed is at the rear and sleeps two people. If there are more passengers, a pop-up roof can be chosen to provide an extra bed for two more people.

In addition to the batteries, the vehicle has a 2.8 kW generator, which runs on fuel from the tank, so the energy requirements are covered by these two elements. It also has heating and other features so that nothing is missing during those holiday trips that are becoming more and more common.

It is not a cheap motorhome and for now, it is only sold in the United States, but we always enjoy taking a look at these camperised models.
