Alert! Uber charges a passenger €12,000 for a 20-minute ride
The Uber driver made a serious mistake when entering the trip details, and the customer ended up having to pay more than €12,000 for covering 5 miles.
An Uber passenger was charged CAD 18,518 for a 21-minute ride in which they covered just 5 miles (about 8 kilometres). This surprising incident took place in downtown Toronto (Canada). In an interview with CBC, the carsharing company said the outrageous charge was due to an error made by the vehicle’s driver.

Uber says the trip in question took place in a traditional taxi approved for the Uber service, an option offered by some vehicles in the Canadian city. Apparently, the driver made a mistake when entering the trip details into the taximeter.
My friend was charged 18K for a 20 Min ride (!), and they are sticking to it. What in the world??? This is insane! @Uber_Support @badassboz @Uber pic.twitter.com/RjFihVLKIC

Believe it or not, the passenger did not get the money back right away. A friend of theirs tweeted the receipt for the ride, pressuring the American company to finally refund the money that was rightfully theirs. What nobody can understand is why the passenger initially accepted being charged such a large amount. Paying more than €12,000 in the hope of reaching a later agreement with Uber takes a great deal of faith.
