Alfa Romeo extends the production of the Giulia and the Stelvio until 2027
Two of Alfa Romeo’s best-known and best-selling models will remain in production until 2027, when they will be replaced by the new generations of both.

The possible discontinuation of the Giulia and Stelvio models has caused some concern about the health of Alfa Romeo. But the brand’s management has issued a reassuring message: both models will continue to be produced at least until 2027. This means that the Cassino plant can ease up, as it guarantees production for two more years.
From that year onwards, the new generations of these two models will begin to be manufactured. In this case, they will use the STLA Large platform, which is designed to accommodate both combustion engine propulsion systems and electrified drivetrains. Thanks to this platform, these two models will be able to continue and adapt to the new requirements imposed by European regulations.

With the date for the end of production of the current generations set for 2027, the plant will not have to halt its activity and the work of hundreds of workers employed there is guaranteed. The development of the new platforms and their use in Alfa Romeo’s models will take time, and this delay in the end of production will make it possible to link the production of the current generation with the next one.
Among the things that must be reviewed for the launch of the new generation of these models with the STLA Large platform are the direct steering, the calibrated suspension and the rear or all-wheel drive, distinctive features of the company. In addition, other elements must also be reviewed, such as the rear-view camera, which has caused problems in models sold in the United States.
In that country, at least 62,000 units have had to be reviewed for this reason, which has affected the brand’s image there.
New Alfa Romeo models
The announcement of the extension of production of the Giulia and the Stelvio has been accompanied by news of the arrival of new models. One of them will be a premium compact SUV. This model has not been confirmed, but it looks like a very likely option to join the more classic models. It will compete against other premium compact SUVs such as the Mercedes GLA, the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3.
With the new dates and the change of strategy, Alfa Romeo will continue its transition towards electric mobility with a firm and confident step, but a slower one.
