Alpine's second fully electric car, the A390, will arrive on October 11

The A390, Alpine’s new electric fastback, will be available in 2025 to complete its Dream Garage with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive options

Alpine continues its transformation towards electric mobility with an ambitious plan that will strengthen its 100% electric Dream Garage. Following the recent launch of the A290, based on the Renault 5, and the exclusivity of the sporty A110, the French brand is ready to unveil its third electric model: the Alpine A390. This new vehicle, which will make its debut on October 11 2024, will be presented on Alpine’s press website as the A390_β, a prototype that previews the lines and features of a high-end sporty fastback whose production will begin in 2025 at the Dieppe plant.

The Alpine A390 will be positioned in the C-segment, in direct competition with models such as the CUPRA Formentor. This electric sporty SUV, approximately 4.50 metres long, will arrive at a key moment, coinciding with the brand’s 70th anniversary. Although its official launch is scheduled for next year, it has already been spotted in development tests, which raises expectations about what it will offer in terms of design and performance.

The A390’s nomenclature follows Alpine’s usual scheme: the “A” followed by three numbers. In this case, the “3” indicates its membership of the C-segment, while the “90″ refers to its approach as a versatile vehicle, suitable for everyday use, without losing the brand’s sporty DNA.

Paris debut and a promising future

The A390_β prototype will have its world debut during the Paris Motor Show, which will take place from 14 to 20 October 2024. In addition to the new model, Alpine will take the opportunity to present other innovations, such as the Alpenglow Hy6, an improved version of its hydrogen-powered prototype, as well as new customisations of the iconic A110 and its recent A290.

The A390 will be built on the AmpR Medium platform, the same one used in the Renault Mégane and Scénic, although it will be adapted to meet the sportiness standards that characterise Alpine. The model is expected to be available with both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, with the possibility of incorporating two electric motors on the rear axle, a configuration that promises an exciting driving experience.

Alpine’s electric future

With the arrival of the A390 in 2025, Alpine reinforces its commitment to electrification, joining the A290 in its Dream Garage. This sporty SUV will not only be a contender in the competitive segment of electric crossovers, but will also represent a key evolution in the brand’s strategy to offer high-performance, zero-emission vehicles.
