AMG has its sights set on diesel and electric models

The evolution that diesel engines have undergone in recent years, with ever-growing market shares and with brands dedicated to using diesel in competition, such as Peugeot, Seat or Audi, has prompted AMG to pay more attention to this alternative as a future powertrain for some of its models. Electric cars have certainly not been left behind, and we all already know the potential these engines could have when applied to sports cars.

In addition to having among its plans an electric version of the SLS, AMG will dedicate itself to exploring the territory of high-performance diesel, a path that began with the Audi R8 V12. That diesel model would be part of the higher end of AMG’s range.

About the electric model, it is known that it will have four motors, one for each wheel, although the location of those motors would not be next to the brakes, almost inside the rim, but in another undisclosed location. One of the criticisms of electric motors located in the wheels is that they unbalance the car’s dynamics due to the added weight, and undoubtedly this is something AMG worked on, basing its decision to place the motors elsewhere.

For now, everything is in the study phase, so there will be no diesel AMG in the near future, and the electric model will still take some time to be presented.
