Aston Martin DBS 59: a beautiful tribute to the iconic DBR1 and its victory at Le Mans
Aston Martin has just announced the arrival of the DBS 59, a limited edition of just 24 units that pays tribute to the iconic DBR1’s victory at Le Mans.

A strong foundation has always been essential to build a promising future, and that is exactly what has happened with the history of Aston Martin. The British marque has an iconic past behind it, full of successes and of vehicles that marked a before and after, such as the DBR1, a model that made history by winning Le Mans in 1959. Now, 59 years later, Aston Martin has wanted to pay tribute to that achievement, something it has accomplished with the creation of the DBS 59, a special edition limited to just 24 units.
As could not have been otherwise, the Q department of Aston Martin has been behind this project, since they are in charge of creating the most special variants of the English house. To do so, they started from the already impressive DBS Superleggera, a model that arrived to revolutionise the supercar segment.
Aston Martin has respected the DBS’s mechanics at all times, but we can appreciate a series of changes that seek to recover the essence of the DBR1. Among these modifications we find the Racing Green colour so characteristic of the longest-running Aston Martin models, which enhances the classic spirit present in the iconic racing car. To add flair to the ensemble, we also find several gold details, such as the wheels and the brake calipers.

On the other hand, carbon fibre also covers the roof and the bonnet, seeking to keep intact the lightness that characterises the Superleggera. The interior has also been an object of devotion, where two-tone brown and black upholstery along with more elements finished in gold -such as the paddle shifters- aim to pay homage to the essence of the DBR1, a vehicle that also showed this combination in its interior.
As we have mentioned, the mechanical section has been respected, so we will continue to find the spectacular 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 capable of producing 725 CV of power and 900 Nm of torque. But the English marque has wanted to further enhance the DBS 59 by offering the option of a racing kit -gloves, overalls and helmet- that imitates the one used by Carroll Shelby in 1959. On the other hand, two suitcases and a car cover will also be included alongside this so special Aston Martin.

For now we do not know the price of these 24 units of the Aston Martin DBS 59, which will only be available to the brand’s most loyal customers. In this way, the British marque has managed to pay tribute to one of the most iconic competition cars of all time, and which will endure far longer thanks to this limited edition of the DBS.
