Ahead of the upcoming edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, taking place on 16 June, auction house Bonhams has announced it will auction one of the only six units ever built of the Mercedes CLK GTR Roadster.

The car going under the hammer belongs to an unknown Dutch collector who bought it as an investment, since the car has not been driven at all. A genuine vehicle that has also never been used and was built in 1999.

Its heart and soul is a powerful 6.9-litre, 12-cylinder V engine producing 612 horsepower and 775 Nm, which allows the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 320 km/h.

Although we don’t know any more specifics about this particular unit being auctioned, what we do know is that its appreciation over time can be staggering, as the expected sale price is estimated to reach between €1.95 and €2.51 million, a spectacular figure.

So if you want one of those race cars homologated for road use, with no mileage on its odometer, and your bank account allows it, don’t hesitate to bid, and of course, let me borrow it someday.
