If the Audi A1 is already a versatile city car, it will be even more so with its new Citycarver version, which has an off-road character inspired by the Q range

Despite its extensive SUV line-up and the boom in these vehicles, Audi continues to favour crossover versions of its models, with the Allroad models being the most representative of them. To these, a new member of this family will now be added: the Audi A1 Citycarver. The small German city car receives a more “rugged” look that will now allow it to venture onto tracks and country roads.

Based on the Sportback version, the Audi A1 Citycarver adopts a look drawn directly from the brand’s Q models, with an off-road design off-road supported by minimal changes to its mechanics, though necessary to achieve its goal. These changes are fully visible at first glance: the Audi A1 Citycarver is now 35 mm taller thanks to its new suspension, and from the entry-level version the wheel size starts at 16 inches.

Visually, we will have no trouble distinguishing the Audi A1 Citycarver from its siblings. The Singleframe grille recalls the Q range, featuring a honeycomb mesh with very pronounced lines painted matte black, while above it there are two openings that are characteristic of the model. At the bottom of the bumpers there are lower protections, and the rear bumper has been redesigned for this model, finished with wheel arches and sills in a colour contrasting with the bodywork.

Inside, the Audi A1 Citycarver inherits both the standard and optional equipment found in the Sportback version, equipment that will also vary depending on the interior trim chosen. In addition to the basic equipment, the Advance, Design Edition and S Line trims are available. The latter will also allow a more refined touch thanks to the choice of upholstery, as you can opt for seats in fabric and synthetic leather or in Alcántara and synthetic leather.

It should be said that, at launch, Audi will offer an “Edition One” version of the A1 Citycarver with a very attractive standard equipment list. Its bodywork can be chosen in Arrow Grey or Pulse Orange, along with 18-inch wheels, with black finishes for the side air intake trims, the radiator protective grille and the front and rear badges; the rear light cluster is also darkened, the roof and mirror housings are painted in a contrasting colour, and there is an “Edition One” logo on the lower part of the doors. Its interior is based on the S Line trim, with the option of silver or orange contrast inserts.

The rest of the elements and technologies found in the Audi A1 Citycarver are the same as those in the rest of the range, and you can fit as many extras as your budget allows. The A1 Citycarver can be ordered from September, while its arrival at European dealerships is scheduled for later in the autumn.
