Audi A5 Cabrio and BMW Serie 3 Cabrio, two options to test (I)

Road test: Audi A5 Cabrio 3.0 V6 TDI with 204 CV and BMW 325i Cabrio with 218 CV. Two different concepts, same segment.

Little is left of the summer, just a few weeks before the sun says goodbye, but without a doubt now is the time to enjoy a convertible. With blazing sun and over 30 degrees, the car is no fun, but we will enjoy it on those nights with a pleasant temperature or those mornings when the sun shines but doesn’t scorch us.

From Highmotor, we want to offer you two options. More than a comparison, they are two choices with their pros and cons. It cannot be a perfect comparison because they are two different approaches. Our two protagonists share only three things in common: premium convertibles, more than 200 CV and four seats.

But the difference lies in the more traditional fabric soft top of the Audi A5 Cabrio versus the hard-top roof of the BMW Serie 3 Cabrio. We also want to talk about two different engines for those who enjoy sportiness or want power but with fuel consumption under control.

The Audi A5 Cabrio features a 3.0 V6 TDI engine with 204 CV, while the BMW Serie 3 Cabrio comes with the 325i engine, that is, a three-litre, six-cylinder inline unit capable of reaching 218 CV. Diesel or petrol? Fabric or hard top? Turbo or naturally aspirated? A5 Cabrio or Serie 3 Cabrio?…
