Audi and the new e-tron era: production begins for the brand's first electric SUV
Audi has kicked off production of the new e-tron, the brand’s first 100% electric SUV. It will be unveiled on the 17th of this month.

Electricity has arrived in the automotive world as a lifeline, an undeniable and unstoppable fact and a concept that is here to stay. Many brands have already turned to this alternative to bring different models to life, but now Audi arrives with a vehicle we have been waiting for months: the e-tron. After the German SUV was presented in Geneva wearing its regulation camouflage, it has faced numerous tests, and the four-ring brand has finally decided to kick off its production.
The Audi e-tron is set to revolutionise the electric vehicle segment and to open the doors to a new vehicle division within the brand. In this way, the German marque enters the luxury electric car segment, where it will compete directly with one of the pioneers in this electrified sector, the Tesla.
The American firm has been quiet for some time, and now it is Audi who has managed to put the other in check but, will it be checkmate? The production of the e-tron confirms that everything is ready to revolutionise the car world and, although the brand has revealed numerous details about its imminent first 100% electric model, we still know very little about the e-tron.

It was today, 3 September, when Audi decided to begin production of its first electric SUV, which can be faintly glimpsed under a cover. For the first time we can see the e-tron without camouflage, and we get a glimpse of part of its front end and the paint colour it will most likely be presented in, Misano Red. In this way, the German brand has broken with the stereotypes of electric vehicles by venturing into much more vivid colours, which represent sportiness and dynamism.
Audi has confirmed that the e-tron has a charging capacity of up to 150 kW at fast-charging stations. This figure means the new German electric SUV could carry enough energy to make a long-distance journey in just 30 minutes. In this way, Audi would have overcome one of the greatest barriers facing 100% electric vehicles, their range.

For now we do not know the official technical data, but we could be talking about different battery levels and a maximum output above 400 CV. It will be on the next 17 September when the four-ring brand unveils the e-tron, with San Francisco chosen by Audi as the location for the event.
