Driving a high-performance sports car is a rewarding experience, but if it also offers the possibility of a Spyder variant with a removable roof, the sensations are intensified as you feel the speed with the sky as your roof. Audi has decided to add the powerful 610 CV mid-mounted V10 engine to the R8 Spyder range, making it the most powerful convertible in the brand with the four rings.

New 5.2-litre naturally aspirated FSI V10 engine producing 610 CV.Its front design stands out for the distinctive Singleframe grille with honeycomb mesh, chrome surround and a new Audi Sport badge. Beneath the headlights, the large air intakes also stand out. As an option, it can also be fitted with Audi LED headlights with Laser technology, which include blue anodised color inserts and dynamic indicators. The side blades, door sill trims, the roof compartment cover and the fixed rear spoilers are made of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP). Together with the classic textile roof, these are the distinctive features of this sports convertible in its most powerful version.

At the rear, the large diffuser stands out, featuring trapezoidal exhaust outlets in gloss black, as well as large air outlets, similar to those at the front. This diffuser generates 100 kilograms of downforce on the rear wheels at high speeds. The roof has an electro-hydraulic mechanism, taking 20 seconds to fold or unfold. The mechanism can be operated while driving up to 50 km/h.

The Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus features a lightweight body. The Audi multi-material Space Frame combines aluminium components with others made of CFRP carbon fibre, achieving a kerb weight without driver of just 1,695 kg, with a dry weight of 1,587 kg; 25 kg less than the Audi R8 Spyder V10. Forged wheels, bucket seats and carbon-ceramic brakes are elements that reduce weight without sacrificing performance.

New optional “Micrommata” green design pack.To achieve a more striking and aggressive look, the Audi R8 Spyder V10 plus can be equipped with the optional “Micrommata” green design pack. Behind the multifunction steering wheel is the Audi virtual cockpit. It features a 12.3-inch screen displaying all the information relevant to the driver using high-definition 3D graphics. When the Performance mode is selected, a large rev counter appears. When the seven-speed S tronic gearbox is used manually, it serves as a gear-change indicator. It also displays indicators for power, torque, G-forces, lap times and the temperatures of the tyres, engine and transmission oil.

It is paired with the seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 328 km/h. This performance is transmitted to the road thanks to quattro traction, which distributes torque via a mechanical rear limited-slip differential. The electro-hydraulically actuated multi-plate clutch is integrated into the Audi drive select system, which allows the driver to choose between comfort, auto, dynamic and individual modes. The performance mode, standard on this version, includes dry, wet and snow programmes, adapting the characteristics of the transmission and suspension to the grip available at any given moment.
