Audi RS5 Cabrio: all the details and photos

Just over two hours ago, Audi unveiled the RS5 Cabrio to the world via an online livestream. With this launch, the German brand completes its range by offering a convertible equipped with a 4.2 FSI engine that delivers 450 CV of power, and an elegant design paired with a lightweight fabric soft top.
Exteriorly, the new Audi RS5 Cabrio features a much sportier look, with headlights highlighted by the LED light strip that forms the daytime running lights, and a front spoiler that incorporates the air intakes. All of this is accompanied by a badge on the front that reminds us we are looking at an RS5.
From a side view, its widened wheel arches, the aluminium housings of the mirrors and the window and windscreen trim are what dominate its exterior styling. Moving to the rear of the Audi RS5 Cabrio, we find a redesigned bumper and a diffuser that extends upwards. In addition, the light clusters are all LED, while the exhaust system consists of two tubes with oval outlets.

As for the most distinctive features of this model, the RS5 Cabrio can open and close its roof in just 15-17 seconds, and it can perform this manoeuvre as long as speed does not exceed 50 km/h. If you want to drive with the roof down, you will have to give up around 60 litres of boot space, leaving about 320 litres free. The eight body colours available can be combined with four other soft-top colours: black, grey, red or brown.
The interior of the Audi RS 5 Cabrio is dominated by black, although you can also find gloss black trim and carbon fibre decorative inserts. The sports seats combine leather and Alcantara, with the option of fine Nappa leather in black or moonlight silver. As for other elements, the steering wheel stands out with its flat-bottomed three-spoke design.

Under the bonnet we find a naturally aspirated V8 with FSI direct injection delivering a maximum power of 450 CV at 8,250 rpm. Its maximum torque of 430 Nm is reached between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. In numbers, the RS5 Cabrio reaches 100 km/h from standstill in about 4.9 seconds, and you can floor the accelerator up to 250 km/h, although on customer request, Audi offers the option of raising this limit to 280 km/h. Its consumption, on the combined cycle, is around 10.9 litres per 100 km.
Power is transmitted through a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch automatic gearbox which, under normal conditions, splits torque in a 40:60 ratio between the front and rear axles, and can shift up to 70% to the front and up to 85% to the rear.
Finally, the brand has announced that the new Audi RS5 Cabrio will reach dealerships next spring with a price of around 103,360 euros.
