Audi SQ8 tuned by ABT, a version that makes a difference

Luxury cars don’t have to be just large sports cars and ultra-exclusive models. There are also luxury cars that come closer to reasonable, though still quite high, prices. That is the case of the Audi SQ8, an SAC (Sport Activity Car) that is very striking when it leaves the factory. But when it passes into the hands of the ABT specialists, it becomes a truly impressive car.

The Audi QS8 by ABT was spotted in a video in the Swiss Alps, where it is easy to see. The black paint of its striking bodywork stands out against the natural surroundings and makes you take a good look at it. The model has passed through the ABT workshop, where it has been modified to sit lower to the ground and fitted with 23-inch wheels to give it more personality and presence.

But where the work really shows is in the engine, giving this model considerable power to tackle the road with ease and poise. The 435 CV engine with a maximum torque of 900 Nm has been replaced by a 4.0-litre V8 unit that delivers 520 CV and a maximum torque of 970 Nm.

The eight-speed quattro automatic gearbox to which the engine is coupled allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.45 seconds. By comparison, the standard Audi SQ8 offers a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h. This is quite remarkable, since the Audi QS8 by ABT weighs 2,250 kg, so it needs an engine that gets it moving quickly and efficiently.

The car looks truly attractive, and in the video we can see it manoeuvring along Swiss roads, adding its power and commanding presence to the driving experience. The Audi QS8 by ABT is a remarkable car, but those who want a slightly fiercer QS8 that leaves the factory with more power will have to wait for the Audi RS Q8, which will use the same engine as the Lamborghini Urus, a 4.0-litre V8 with slightly more power, delivering 600 CV.
