Avatr steps up and tests its new electric SUV in Mongolia
The Chinese brand is preparing its expansion into several international markets and is now testing a new electric model in Mongolia, as can be seen in these images.

Avatr is another brand that is growing rapidly and offers electric models that compete with major names in the sector such as Tesla. For now, they sell two models, the SUV 11 and the Gran Turismo 12, but they are already preparing the launch of a new electric SUV, which will be called Avatr 15 (in fact, one-five), and which is being tested in several locations around the world. The series of images accompanying this article come from the tests carried out in Mongolia.
This brand is backed by Changan, Huawei and CATL, so it is a powerful brand with plenty of growth potential. This model can be seen in camouflage as it moves over the rough terrain of this country. In the case of the Avatr 12, no rear windscreen wiper was fitted, but we don’t know whether this new model will adopt the same solution or whether it will be a more conservative car.

We also cannot see whether it adopts the curious notification display found on the bonnet of the other models. This display shows messages to other road users, such as pedestrians. The prototypes have several configurations, although we know that one of them will feature a retractable awning, a roof rack and a towing hitch. All of this reinforces the sense of adventure that this model offers.

AVATR 15 EN MONGOLIA
Beyond the camouflage we can see 22-inch alloy wheels, which allow it to move over very difficult terrain. To see it in action we will have to wait until the second half of 2024, and its goal is to position itself against the Tesla Model Y. Its exact dimensions are not yet known, but it will be smaller than the Avatr 11, which has a length of 4,880 mm.
In addition to this model, Avatr will offer another model, with a lower ground clearance and designed for road use. Both electric and range-extended versions are expected. For now, they are only sold in China, but their expansion plans include reaching other markets such as Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. Europe is part of the company’s plans, but they will not arrive until 2026.
