BMW Connected, the app that amplifies your phone's features in the car

The BMW Connected app is now available for mobile devices in Spain. This platform wirelessly links our smartphone or smartwatch with the vehicle, allowing commands to be sent to the car from our device. BMW Connected recognises information such as addresses, calendar entries or data from other apps, which are then used by the vehicle’s navigation system.

The method for using the BMW Connected app is quite simple. After creating an account and registering with BMW Connected Drive, the user can create a customer profile in BMW Connected. From that moment on, the app recognises mobility-relevant information, such as addresses and arrival times from calendar entries, and advises on the best departure time based on the real-time traffic information it receives.

The BMW Connected app also collects the ‘points of interest’ from other apps and transmits them to the vehicle’s navigation system to plan the route when the user requires it. The platform offers the “learned personal destinations” function, which continuously recognises the places you have travelled to and automatically stores them as favourite destinations. In addition, BMW Connected recognises mobility patterns, such as the daily commute from work to home. If traffic conditions delay the arrival time, BMW Connected suggests an alternative route with the earliest arrival time.

On the other hand, the BMW Connected app allows commands to be sent to and executed on the vehicle. Available functions include locking and unlocking the doors, switching on the lights, using the horn or activating the climate control. These actions vary by model and can be carried out from any distance.
