BMW i3S iPerformance: more power and better chassis for the sporty version of the electric car
The BMW i3S iPerformance could offer 190 hp of power, 20 hp more than the standard i3. It will be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show alongside the model’s facelift.
BMW is putting the final touches on the new i3. The only 100% electric model from the Bavarian brand will receive a facelift that will also include the launch of a new sporty version: i3S iPerformance. This variant will be presented in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Details about the sporty version of the i3 are still scarce, although some sources report that the German model will receive a new engine that will deliver 20 hp more than the standard model, an increase that would allow it to reach 190 hp. It should be remembered that the new standard BMW i3 retains its rear-wheel drive system, while its power – 168 hp – remains unchanged from its predecessor.

In addition to the increase in performance, the i3S iPerformance will feature several chassis improvements over the base i3. These include a wider track (40 mm) and a height lowered by 10 mm.
The British publication Autocar has confirmed that the dynamic stability control of the new BMW i3 has been reprogrammed to offer greater traction and grip in wet conditions.

In terms of design, the new BMW i3 is not a true revolution, but a subtle facelift that differs from its predecessor in small details. The new model features a redesigned front bumper, new LED lights, new door frames and renewed alloy wheels. The rear bumper is also new, as is the option to choose the new exterior color with two different shades.
In the interior cabin, the new electric BMW has received new trim finishes, as well as an iDrive infotainment system with the brand’s latest software, the same one found in the 5 Series and the brand’s updated models.
