The Tesla Model 3 is already being seen on the streets of San Francisco ahead of its July unveiling

The entry-level model in the Tesla range, the Model 3, was spotted on public roads this weekend in its latest development version.

The much-anticipated entry-level model in the Tesla range, the Model 3, has been spotted several times on the road this weekend. Obviously these are prototype versions, but either way they point to the imminent arrival of the model with the largest advance order books in history.

Last Friday, two units of the Model 3 were seen at a Supercharger station (the most powerful charger offered by Tesla) in San Francisco. We will have to wait for the official launch in July 2017 to see the final design of the electric saloon.

From the images, we have been able to get a look at the current (still in development) version of the Model 3. The dashboard and centre console feature a very minimalist design and, as is only to be expected in Tesla vehicles, the saloon offers a huge touchscreen to the right of the steering wheel.

Given the unprecedented comparison the brand published a few days ago, which showed the differences between the Tesla Model S and the Model 3, we do not expect the entry-level saloon to come with an endless list of options; the comparison announced that it would offer only 100 configurations, compared with the more than 1,500 offered by the Tesla Model S.

We have also learned that the charging port on the Model 3 will be the same as that fitted to the Model S and Model X. The electric saloon was previously seen at a station offering CHAdeMO and CCS charging options, but the test car was not seen charging. The reason is that no Tesla model currently comes with the adapter needed to charge at a CCS station, while the CHAdeMO option is only available to customers who buy an adapter costing 450 dollars.

A video of a Model 3 spotted in an unusual colour, very similar to the “Signature Red” the American brand used to offer, has been posted on the social network Instagram.
