BMW Individual, a commitment to colour
Driving a car in a custom colour? It’s possible thanks to the BMW Individual programme. Shall we find out more?

BMW has always made a clear commitment to colour and for several decades has offered the programme known as BMW Individual. This programme allows drivers to choose the finishes of their future car, both inside and out. Customers can pick a shade from a palette of more than 160 colours. And you, have you chosen your favourite colour?
The Bavarian brand has now launched the slogan “vehicles as colourful as we are” to encourage diversity at its plant in Leipzig. At present, that plant is producing the new BMW 1 Series and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé. On these models, the most popular individual colours are San Marino Blue, Ermes Green, Nardo Grey and Speed Yellow.

BMW Individual: this is how you can personalise your car
The desire for individuality is growing among the public, which is why more and more drivers are opting for much bolder colours, even though this means a higher price. While units are currently being built in San Marino, Ermes, Nardo and Speed Yellow, Hockenheim Silver, Rubi Red and Sepia Violet will soon be produced.

Before opting for an BMW Individual colour, you should know that the waiting time extends to at least ten weeks. The Bavarian brand places so much importance on this programme that it has even created a paint shop and mixing rooms for this type of special order. To give you an idea, at present only five units a day can be built with individual paints.

Individual colours are applied by hand, and the workforce has even been expanded for these special units. If you choose a model with matt paint such as the Frozen Black, Frozen Grey or Frozen Orange, the painting and drying time can double, as these are much more labour-intensive and demanding processes.

Do you like the idea? Then wait until you enter BMW Individual Visualizer: choosing will not be easy at all. We can assure you of that!
