BMW M2 CS Racing: this is how radical the new customer racing model from the Bavarian brand is
It is called BMW M2 CS Racing and comes with FIA license to compete in mountain and tarmac events. Its price? 120,000 euros of pure adrenaline.
BMW is driving its thousands of followers wild, as an image has leaked of what will be the sibling of the long-awaited BMW M2 CS. It is called BMW M2 CS Racing and will become a dark object of desire, as it is a machine built for racing. The sporting division of BMW, BMW M, is celebrating, as it has one more new member in the family while waiting for the much-anticipated BMW M2 CS to arrive.
Following a private event held on the legendary Ascari circuit in Ronda, Málaga, an image of the new BMW M2 CS Racing has leaked on social media. This radical model serves as a preview ahead of the arrival and official confirmation of the upcoming BMW M2 CS.
Some sources claim this radical leak came 24 hours before the debut of the BMW M2 CS, a model that will be road-legal and soon available to buy. Only 47 units will reach Spain, and many of them are already reserved, so if you feel like buying one, head to the dealership, because we are sure it will sell out quickly.

A customer racer with FIA license
It is important to highlight that during the launch event held at the Ascari circuit, it was mentioned that it would cost around 120,000 euros and that, as an exclusive, it would come with FIA license. This license will allow the model to take part in mountain and tarmac events. In addition, it has been described as “born on the road, a beast on the track. The new BMW M2 CS Racing. Stay tuned to find out more”.
The director of BMW Group Motorsport, Jens Marquardt, has stated that “it is fantastic to be able to take the Customer Racing programme of BMW to the next level with the new club racing sector, as well as the associated creation of global service and distribution structures. It could be said that customer racing at BMW has never been as diverse as it will be next season. With the new entry-level model, the successor to the BMW M240i Racing, on the one hand we are offering continuity to our core customers. On the other hand, we are also targeting a new group with the club-level variant”.

BMW M2 CS Racing, 120,000 euros of track pleasure
What we do know is that the BMW M2 CS Racing will replace the BMW M240i Racing, and will be the successor to the previous BMW M235i Racing. The first customer cars are scheduled to arrive during the second quarter of 2020.
What else is known about the new model from the high-performance division? We can say it is a vehicle specially designed for the track but it will keep the four-seat layout, and a strict slimming process has been carried out. The seats are lighter, it will have basic equipment, and it will replace the steel roof with a carbon fibre one, keeping the weight below 1,500 kg. In addition, the centre of gravity is lower.
It is important to highlight that the future BMW M2 CS will feature an aerodynamic package consisting of a deeper and more pronounced front bumper, different side skirts, a redesigned rear bumper and a much larger rear spoiler, not forgetting the lightweight alloy wheels and a suspension reworked with new components.

What engine will power this track beast?
Combined with the weight loss, there is a healthy power increase for the already legendary S55 engine, codenamed 3.0 litres, with twin turbo with six inline cylinders. The power curve starts from the 410 CV of the BMW M2 Competition up to a rumoured 450 CV, although we have also heard talk of a lower figure. Will the German brand and its high-performance division, BMW M, surprise us?
According to reports, the engine is paired with a standard six-speed manual gearbox that allows the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.0 seconds. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will also be available and reduces the 0-100 km/h time to 3.8 seconds.

Following its online presentation this week, everything points to the new BMW M2 CS making its world debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, held this very month of November.
