BMW shows a clear commitment to the environment by reducing the level of CO2 emitted by its vehicles. We will also see a new electric car called the i4.

BMW has among its lineup a series of plug-in hybrid models that aim to offer an “all-in-one” package, blending sportiness with comfort and efficiency. However, these three characteristics of the German models are not the only ones that make them a purchase worth considering, since they are also characterized by low -or zero- emissions of polluting waste. With this premise, BMW has managed to considerably reduce CO2 emissions from its vehicles.

Fully electric vehicles are increasingly presenting themselves as a more attractive option for the general public, especially for those located in one of the large cities of our country, where there is an extensive charging network for electrified models. BMW has been betting on this type of engine for quite some time, and we can see it in several vehicles in the range, such as the i3, where efficiency and versatility come together in equal measure.

During 2017 the Bavarian firm managed to sell more than 100,000 electric cars with a 21% share, a figure that demonstrates the good reception the product of BMW is getting. This is beneficial not only for the brand itself, but also for the environment, since after the vehicles of the brand hit the road, they have successfully reduced the high level of pollution experienced around the world. Specifically, BMW has managed to lower CO2 levels to 122 g/km.

This figure represents an improvement over 2016 of 2 g/km, an amount that will keep improving exponentially over time and with the introduction of more electric models. BMW has been carrying out this work for years, and since 1995 the German firm has managed to reduce the average emissions of its vehicles in Europe by more than 42%, a figure achieved thanks to its models most committed to the environment.

“This development clearly shows that our electric mobility strategy is on the right track. We are adding more electric motors to our vehicle fleet, while at the same time working on fuel-saving technologies for our conventional engines,” said Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

BMW does not intend to hit the brakes now, which is why it continues to plan a considerable expansion of its range of hybrid vehicles and, of course, of fully electric vehicles. This plan is scheduled to be carried out by 2025, a date by which they aim to offer up to 25 models with batteries as their power source, and one of the first will be the future i4, which will be based on the BMW i Vision Dynamics and will be produced at the Munich factory.

This concept car was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show with the intention of showing the world the brand’s vision of electrified vehicles a few years from now. With the introduction of this model we find a 100% electric sports saloon that will set the guidelines and features for the rest of its siblings, which will also forgo combustion.
