BMW Serie 2 Active Tourer xDrive, now with all-wheel drive

The first MPV in the history of BMW now has a new mechanical option aimed at the most active and adventurous users.
We are talking about the xDrive all-wheel drive system, which from now on will also be offered on the BMW Serie 2 Active Tourer.
The Serie 2 Active Tourer, which we already tried at its presentation, is one of the BMW most groundbreaking in the history of the German company, thanks to the huge number of novelties the manufacturer has introduced in order to create a product that lives up to the expectations of the typical BMW customer.

To begin with, the Active Tourer has a body that falls within the premium compact MPVs, going head to head with the Mercedes Class B. In addition, for the first time in the brand’s history, it features a front-wheel drive system that, according to the manufacturer itself, notably improves the practical and modular qualities of the vehicle, while still maintaining a very high level of dynamism, typical of any BMW creation.
As if that were not enough, the Active Tourer also debuts a new family of modular three- and four-cylinder engines, which minimise the economic impact while also facilitating manufacturing. On this occasion, the latest novelty that BMW brings us is the introduction of the xDrive all-wheel drive system, which adds a plus of possibilities to an already capable BMW.

This system will be available only for the two most powerful engines in the range (225i xDrive and 220d xDrive), both combined as standard with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. All-wheel drive is not permanent, and under normal circumstances the Active Tourer will send 100% of the power to the front axle, completely disconnecting the rear axle. However, thanks to a multi-plate clutch, the system is capable of sending up to 100% of the power to the rear axle (0:100), exponentially improving traction capabilities.
Both the 220d xDrive Active Tourer and the 225i xDrive Active Tourer are already available at dealerships in our country.
