BMW Series 5 2014

BMW has definitively revealed the restyling introduced on the Series 5, an E-segment saloon that, after several years on the market, has received slight changes both in its exterior, interior and mechanical components, which will allow the German brand to extend its commercial life from two to three years.
In terms of design, it is difficult to tell the old model apart from the newly renewed one. The saloon and Touring versions now feature a grille with different air intakes, while at the rear the lights have new lines. The Series 5 GT has also received slight changes, such as a tighter front spoiler.

All variants offer their buyers as standard xenon headlights, while adaptive LED light units will be available as an optional extra. Other novelties of the Series 5 2014 are the side indicators integrated into the exterior mirrors, new designs for the light alloy wheels, a broader range of upholstery colours, as well as new interior trims and exterior paint colours.
For the first time in the Series 5, BMW will offer a choice between two trim lines: Luxury and Modern, complemented by the M Sport package. The restyling goes largely unnoticed inside. The only notable changes are new storage compartments and cup holders, offering more space for stowing items.

Mechanically, the BMW Series 5 2014 will receive for the first time in this generation the 518d variant, positioning itself as the entry-level engine in the range, which will drastically reduce the model’s starting price. This two-litre engine has four cylinders supercharged by a turbocharger, delivering 143 CV of power to the rear wheels and 380 Nm of torque. It is available for both the saloon and the Touring. The Series 5 GT will continue with its six- and eight-cylinder engines.
For now, and until the facelift of the BMW M5 is presented, the 550i, with a 450 CV V8 engine, will be the most powerful option.
