BMW will update its models by adding 48-volt mild hybrid technology this summer
The models of BMW will be updated during July 2020, and the cars that come off the production line will add improvements such as mild hybrid technology

The arrival of summer will bring new features for the BMW models. Throughout the central months of 2020, the German brand has prepared a fairly radical change across several of its models and versions. Reducing fuel consumption and cutting harmful emissions are among BMW’s goals, so it has decided to add a 48-volt mild hybrid system to several of its models that did not yet have one, starting this summer.
In this way, 2020 will see the German brand’s cars boosted by the inclusion of these hybrid systems, and consumption and harmful gas emission figures will improve. To achieve this, BMW will fit its cars with a more powerful starter-generator and an additional battery pack to store the energy used by the car’s electrical systems.

BMW models with mild hybrid technology from 2020
The 48-volt mild hybrid system will also be present in the models that use the new six-cylinder inline diesel engines found in the BMW 7 Series, and it is also available on the BMW X3, BMW X4, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. It will also be included in the two new engines for the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, so many models and variants of the brand will join the family of mild hybrids.
With the introduction of the 48-volt mild hybrid system in 37 versions, the number of models that come with this engine as standard will rise, thereby improving the overall performance of these vehicles.

But these changes will not be the only ones, as BMW’s plans for its electrified models go further. Many of the plug-in hybrid versions will feature an automatic switch to electric mode as soon as they detect the vehicle entering a low-emission zone in the city.
Another of the new features coming to BMW cars is a new display and control system that will be part of the equipment of the BMW 3 Series on models built from July 2020. It is called BMW Operating System 7 and includes, among other things, Driving Assistant Professional. Thanks to this, it will also offer Active Navigation Guidance and the lane change warning assistant.
Improvements to BMW models will also extend to connectivity, as from July they will include compatibility with Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.
