BMW's Neue Klasse platform can support a four-motor configuration with up to 1,360 CV
We will soon be able to enjoy the new Neue Klasse platform from the Bavarian brand.

A lot has been said about the upcoming Neue Klasse platform from BMW, but now the Bavarian brand has revealed the power this architecture will be able to handle. The first model to sit on BMW’s new architecture will be a fully electric saloon the size of the 3 Series. However, the platform will be very flexible and will be used for a multitude of different models with different outputs. In theory, one of these could be a supercar.
During a recent interview with BMW Blog, BMW’s Head of Engineering and Research and Development, Frank Weber, noted that the platform can support single, dual and even quad motor configurations. “The most demanding vehicle we have is a truly high-performance M product, a really high-performance M product. What you can expect from this Neue Klasse architecture is not only flexibility within its high-voltage battery. It can also have a super-efficient single-motor architecture, a two-motor architecture, and this can even offer a four-motor architecture of up to one megawatt.” That is to say 1,360 CV.
This is what BMW’s new platform looks like
As expected, Weber could not expand on the subject and did not reveal whether the carmaker will actually bring such a vehicle to life.

Interestingly, a report published earlier this year indicated that BMW partnered with McLaren Automotive and will jointly develop an electric supercar and a high-performance electric SUV. It is speculated that the supercar could carry the McLaren badge and come equipped with four electric motors, which could generate up to 1,100 CV. The BMW could take the form of a midpoint between the 8 Series Gran Coupé and a traditional SUV.
Whatever it turns out to be, we will have to wait a little longer to learn more details about the models that will underpin the Bavarian brand’s new platform.
